Logos, websites, and all new branding – Webkick’s designs for all-terrain vehicles
The beginning of summer marks not only the beginning of a new season, full of new opportunity, new customers, and a whole lot of sunshine (we hope!), but also the beginning of festival season.
Whilst the country’s most discerning music-lovers were all waist-high in beer, mud, and a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll, the world’s most passionate motor enthusiasts were gathered together at Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester to celebrate the wonders of the motorised vehicle; including our newest clients, Talos.
Creating new websites for all terrains – and a logo to match
Caged Steel Force Company, the business responsible for the all-terrain giant Talos, came to Webkick early in 2016 with a clear request; to create new, fresh branding and a more user-friendly website – all things we, together with our design partners, Created, could deliver.
Getting to know the business and its intended audience – the military, and those in the civilian sector requiring agile, powerful, all-terrain vehicles, such as security companies – was our first challenge.
In order to reach the right customers and appeal to the right potential customers, we needed to create a new brand which reflected the tastes of this audience, as well as the nature of the business itself.
Taking inspiration from existing motor companies, as well as the look and feel of the vehicle itself – Talos – we created the new black and white brand; strong, masculine, and transparent – the new logo embodying the values of the business as they embark on this new chapter.
Second was the website. Formally cagedsteel-forcecompany.com, the old website was clunky and text heavy, the user journey was confused, and the URL long-winded and complicated.
Although a pretty good base to build from, the former website simply didn’t clearly signpost users to the ultimate goal – enquiring to purchase – or clearly indicate and describe the focus of the business itself; Talos, the all-terrain vehicle.
By changing the URL to the much shorter and more direct talos-vehicles.com, the website is instantly more memorable, with a more direct approach – users land on the website purely for Talos, so it made sense to us to make ‘Talos’ the main focus of the site.
By stripping down the content to only the most relevant, Search Engine Optimised, material; including social media links across the site, and adding a News & Events section, the new site is easier to use, looks great, and is certain to get Talos found on Google – also providing the company with the tools to continue engaging with their audience on all their different platforms, and creating fresh, new, and interesting content as they attend new events, and discover new stories.
